DEADLINE: September 30, 2005
TOPIC: Sportsman You Admire
Where can a kid turn for inspiration these days? Big-time athletes? A bunch of overpaid whiners. Musicians? No-talent one-hit wonders. Political leaders? Spare us. The truth is that about the only place you can look for real, living, breathing men and women who are worth emulating is in the ranks of hunters and fishermen, which brings us to the subject of this year’s Field & Stream Young Writers Contest.
This is your chance to make a personal hero of yours famous, and get yourself some fame in the process. All you have to do is describe the man or woman, hunter or fisherman, whom you look up to. What is it that makes them special? What have you learned from them? What have they done or said that has impressed you with their character?
Our panel of editors will select two winners, one between the ages of 13 and 18, and one between 19 and 22. The winning writers will each receive $500, and their essays will be published in a future issue of Field & Stream. Runners-up will be published on our website.
No Purchase Necessary
